Godzilla 2 writer named to direct the film as well

Godzilla 2 will continue the 'Monsterverse' as Legendary Pictures is calling it. It will follow up its original and Kong: Skull Island which releases in March. Until now, only rumors have surfaced on who would direct the film, but the studio announced today who it would be.

In fact, the film's writer Michael Dougherty has been named to direct the film. He's written other films such as X-Men 2, X-Men: Apocalypse and Superman Returns with Brandon Routh. The film will be the third in the series of four films, which will end with Kong vs. Godzilla in 2020.

The official title is Godzilla: King of the Monsters and is set to release on March 22nd, 2019. The all out battle between both Kong and Godzilla is scheduled for May 29th, 2020.
