Google quite literally have bought the alphabet.
The technology giant is now the proud owner of abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz.com, a fairly lengthy domain in its own right.
As GameZone previously reported, Google underwent some restructuring and later created a separate holding company a few weeks ago, and now they have found themselves a pretty strange website domain for it.
We have hyperlinked the domain above however the page isn't live as of yet, which might surprise some people. On the other hand, the previous – or existing – domain for Alphabet Inc is abc.xyz and is still running as normal.
The launch of Alphabet's website has triggered a bit of a banter war between Google and Microsoft, some would even describe it as trolling. Microsoft recently bought the abc.wtf domain and linked it to their Bing web browser, a move that might well have sparked Google's latest purchase.
An Alphabet spokesman said: “We realized we missed a few letters in abc.xyz, so we’re just being thorough." Although, the company is still yet to confirm their intentions for the website.
Alphabet also purchased domains that included the incorrect spelling of Google. Users that incorrectly type Googl.com or Gogle.com into their search bar will also be redirected to the actual Google web browser.
See, that is a good idea for both the user and the company, whereas the purchase of GoogleSucks.com is obviously a move to prevent further trolling.
