Survive a post-apocalyptic road trip through the USA in indie dev Finji’s new turn-based survival-strategy game. Overland will be coming out on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch this month, on September 19th. Check out the launch trailer below!
You can get a rough idea of Overland, if you imagine a combination of Into the Breach and Fallout. Players are put into control of a small group of survivors who venture out on a dangerous journey across the country. On your way, you will have to scavenge for various resources like food, medicine and gas for your car. But beware, the post-apocalyptic world harbors hostile enemies who will try to take you down at any stop.
Take care of a group of travelers on a post-apocalyptic road-trip across the United States in this turn-based survival game. Fight scary creatures, rescue stranded survivors, and scavenge for supplies like fuel, first aid kits, and weapons. Decide where to go next, whether it’s upgrading this wrecked car, or rescuing that dog. Just remember, there are consequences for every action. Get ready for close calls, dramatic escapes, hard choices, arguing about whether or not that dog gets rescued, and the end of the world.
The first thing that catches attentions is the striking art style which decidedly goes low-fi while still looking truly beautiful. In randomly generated maps that remind us of cute toy sets, the game turns into a strategic chess game of takings risks and keeping everyone alive.
The release of Overland is imminent, with its projected date of September 19th. The good thing about a low-fi presentation is that the turn-based survival game will be coming out on pretty much every gaming platform.
