Gran Turismo 6 demo races onto PS3 next week

PlayStation 3 owners will be able to take Gran Turismo 6 for a test drive early next week, as Sony announced plans to release a demo for the game on July 2nd.

In addition to giving you a taste of what to expect from Polyphony's next racer, playing the demo will enter you into the GT Academy competition. Those who record the best qualifying times will advance to the National Finals, where you can compete for a place in the Silverstone race camp to determine one winner from each country. Ultimately, these finalists will be put through an intensive Driver Development Program in order to qualify for a full season racing a Nissan GT-R GT3 NISMO in a top-level championship.

Although the competition ends on Sunday, July 28 (at 3:59pm PST), the demo will actually remain available until August 31st. Anyone who registers and submits a qualifying time will receive free bonus content, but partaking in the competition is not a requirement for those just wishing to download and play the game.
