Grand Theft Auto 5 headed to next-gen consoles? Rockstar job posting hints possibility

Rockstar Games, currently developing Grand Theft Auto 5, is running a job ad seeking environment artists "to get the most from next-gen consoles" and I have a strange hunch that it applies to GTA 5.

Posted last year, according to CVG, the posting reads: "We'd like to hear from the industry's most talented environment artists.  You will be designing, building and texturing the world, have the technical knowledge to achieve great looking results and the skill to get the most from next-gen consoles."

Now, next-gen consoles could mean two things: they are hiring for the Wii U which is the only confirmed "next-gen console", they are looking beyond that to either the Xbox 720 or PS4, which both Microsoft and Sony have denied is being developed, or at least announced.

The ad doesn't specifically say Grand Theft Auto 5.  In fact, it doesn't say any game title.  But depending on when the game is released, or how far in development it is, this post could very well relate to Grand Theft Auto V.  After all, we know absolutely nothing about the game, nor the development of it – at least nothing more than what the trailer showed us.

So will Grand Theft Auto 5 be for the Xbox 720 or PS4?  Or is this "next-gen console" simply referring to the Wii U – which people seem to forget is "next-gen".  Either way, I'd be pleased to see the game on any of those.  Of course, it could be that the job posting not related to GTA 5 at all.  It's all speculation and rumor, and the job could be for a completely new, unannounced IP.

Personally, I don't know.  The only thing we are sure of is Rockstar is hiring for a next-gen console.  I have my own theory, and you are free to make of this post whatever you will.
