Grand Theft Auto V to get Diamond Casino Heist next week

Rockstar Games’ open-world crime epic is getting an all-new heist next week. After some cryptic teasing, Rockstar has announced Grand Theft Auto V is getting yet another massive update in the form of The Diamond Casino Heist.

On Thursday, December 12th, players will embark on what Rockstar is calling “the biggest, most audacious, most complex criminal operation ever to hit Los Santos”. That’s a pretty bold claim given all of the insane and bombastic missions in GTA 5. This won’t be like previous heists, either.

The acclaimed developer has overhauled how heists work in GTA 5 and seems to suggest they’ll be more replayable and layered than past heists.

“Featuring a diverse range of opportunities for set-up and prep missions that shape your plan of attack, multiple paths of approach, constantly changing security measures and a dizzying array of choices once inside. Expect outcomes for you and your crew to change on the fly as you deal with each new situation, leading to more choices mid-mission. Even if the best laid plans go sideways, you’ll have the opportunity to keep the mission afloat without failing by shooting your way out with your remaining team lives, all allowing the Heist to be highly replayable with new scenarios unfolding each time.”

Before you can start planning your elaborate heist, the mastermind of the crew will need to purchase a new property: an arcade. On the surface, customers will be soaking in nostalgia while you and your crew are hosting an incredibly layered criminal operation in the back. Beyond just planning your moves, you can practice hacking keypads and cracking vaults, store equipment and vehicles, and run your other businesses via a terminal.

As with all of Grand Theft Auto V’s biggest updates, we’ll likely be getting a bunch of new toys to play with. Rockstar will drop full details on the Diamond Casino Heist next week, we’ll be sure to keep you posted on all the goodies coming in the free update.

Grand Theft Auto V is out now on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
