Grim Fandango comes to Nintendo Switch today; 20th anniversary plans revealed

Grim Fandango is one of the most beloved adventure games of all-time and is definitely one of Double Fine’s greatest titles. The 90s point and click title made its way to mobile, PS4, and PS Vita a few years ago after being segregated to PC. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the game, Grim Fandango will make its way to a new console: the Nintendo Switch!

“It’s been 20 years since I created Grim Fandango at LucasArts and boy, it was a journey to say the least. But knowing how much enjoyment it brought players, it was all worth it,” said Double Fine Founder, Tim Schafer. “The best part of releasing on Switch is that returning players can now take it on the go and we have a chance to show it to a whole new generation.”

Double Fine released a port of their acclaimed adventure game, Broken Age, on Nintendo Switch just a few months ago and Grim Fandango will mark their second undertaking for the console. The game is available as of today so you won’t have to wait around to play it, you can purchase Grim Fandango off the Nintendo eShop right now for $14.99.

In addition to this exciting news, Double Fine has also announced that the PS4 version of Grim Fandango is getting a physical release with a sleeve and reversible cover art and some physical versions of in-game items. You can also get a vinyl of the game’s soundtrack that’s sold separately. You can pre-order both from iam8bit’s website.

Finally, there will be a Grim Fandango art show in San Francisco and LA throughout the month of November and December. It’ll debut at Double Fine’s annual Day of the Devs at The Midway in San Francisco on November 11th and run from November 14th to December 31st at PWNShop in LA.
