GO SAVAGE
Groundbreaking US smash-hit multiplayer title heading
to the UK
28 November 2003
As Digital Jesters’ inaugural titles TrackMania and
Virtual Skipper 3 hit the stores this Friday (28th November), so the firm
continues to snap up hotly-contested titles for future publication. The latest
in its aggressive acquisitions drive is the pioneering multiplayer melee combat
title ‘Savage’ – a game which has been wowing fans Stateside, and is due to be
released in the UK in February 2004.
Savage – developed by technology leaders S2 Games – is a revolutionary
multiplayer game in which players the world over unite to compete in epic
battles. The game uniquely combines two of the PC’s most enduring genres to
create an experience without peer – and one that looks set to redefine
multiplayer co-operative titles forever. Best of all, beyond the initial
purchase price – a standard 29.99 srp – players are not hit for monthly
subscription charges like the majority of multiplayer titles.
Savage’s beauty is its freedom. Players can opt to play at the heart of the
battle as warriors – where the game is presented in a frantic first-person view,
using the latest 3D rendering technology. These armies are organised and
directed by commanders – again, other human players – who regard the battlefield
from a more traditional RTS viewpoint. Commanders manage the strategic side of
the conflict, building bases, mining resources and issuing orders which the
warriors should – note the word ‘should’ – undertake. It’s a revolutionary
concept, and one which provides an unrivalled sense of combat for all.
The game has just been launched in the US, where is has been receiving rave
reviews. Indeed, influential games Website The Adrenaline Vault concludes:
"Savage edges close to perfection" and IGN awards it a fantastic 8.7/10
(interestingly, its readers rate it 9.0).
"Savage has been on our wish list for some time," says Terry Malham, Director,
Digital Jesters, "so we are therefore thrilled to have reached this agreement.
S2 Games is a talented bunch who will soon be making real waves in the
development community and the game was on the radar for several large
publishers. However, lean outfits such as Digital Jesters are always able to
move much more quickly – and I’m delighted we’ve once again out-flanked our
rivals. We’re expecting this to be one of our most popular titles to date."
Digital Jesters will publish Savage on PC CD-ROM in February 2004, priced
29.99. There are no additional subscription charges.
