Group of fans working on bringing Half-Life 2: Episode 3’s plot summary to life

In August, we were all treated to the semi-official plot of Half-Life 2: Episode 3. Series writer Marc Laidlaw posted a plot summary of what would've been the game had it ever been made, it was pretty ambitious and awesome which made it even more heartbreaking that it never saw the light of day.

To ease our pain, a team of 60 developers has taken it upon themselves to make Half-Life 2: Episode 3 a real, playable experience. The game will be made using the Unreal Engine and is set to be roughly 4 – 6 hours and will be a faithful adaptation of Laidlaw's story. The team took to Reddit to share some details regarding the game which is being titled as Project Borealis, a reference to the long sought after ship in the Half-Life universe.

A tech demo is on the way to provide a proof of concept and they've already shared some in-game assets and concept art which you can view below.

Project Borealis has no release date.
