GTA 5 celebrates 4th of July with GTA Online Independence Day Special

With the 4th of July right around the corner, Rockstar Games is feeling extra patriotic, releasing The Independence Day Special (in association with Ammu-Nation) for Grand Theft Auto Online. This limited-time update, which is available right now, adds a number of patriotic items that scream "America, f*ck yea!"

The Independence Day Special offers two types of vehicles, the Sovereign motorcycle and the super-sized Liberator monster truck. And since this is America — and we love our guns — it's only fitting that the update also adds two new options to help you protect your rights. Over at Ammu-Nation you'll find the high-powered Musket and the Firework Rocket Launcher. There are also seven new properties added to the Dynasty 8 rolls, including locations in Paleto Bay and Vinewood Hills.

Lastly, there's an abundance of patriotic flare available. From the "Made in the U.S.A." t-shirt to the backwoods mullet, there's plenty of items that'll help your nationalistic pride.

The update isn't just about cosmetics though. Additional game tuning updates and other adjustments have been made as well, including the new On Call Matchmaking function. This new option allows you to accept a Job invite and continue playing in Freemode until that Job fills up. It basically reduces the time spent idle while waiting for a Job to start.

These special seasonal items are available to redeem in-game until mid-July. Rockstar says they'll announce a more specific expiration date soon.
