GTA 5 gameplay captured from PS3 version

All of the in-game footage captured for yesterday's Grand Theft Auto 5 gameplay video was done using the PS3 version of the game, Rockstar confirmed.

"Just to clarify for those asking, this particular video was captured with footage from the PS3 version of the game," Rockstar wrote on the publisher's official website. This should put rumors to rest that the footage was recorded on something other than the already confirmed consoles. GTA 5 is only announced for Xbox 360 and PS3, but yesterday's video sparked the return of more speculation that a PC version could be in the works.

Given the large scale and scope of GTA 5, it's certainly understandable that some would doubt the ability of current-gen consoles to run the game. While the graphics are nothing to scoff it, GTA 5 definitely lacks the visual fidelity of next-gen games. But for what it lacks in graphics, GTA 5 certainly seems to make up for with in-depth gameplay and a massive open-world sandbox.

Grand Theft Auto 5 is due out for Xbox 360 and PS3 on September 17.
