Grand Theft Auto 5, which earned $800 million in first-day sales, has now surpassed the $1 billion mark, according to publisher Take-Two Interactive's estimates.
Prior to GTA 5's release, Activision's Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 was the fastest game to reach $1 billion in sales, doing so in 15 days. GTA 5 did it in three days. The highly anticipated title from Rockstar Games was released on Tuesday to rave reviews. It's currently challenging GTA 4 for the highest rated game of all time.
"Grand Theft Auto is a cultural phenomenon and Rockstar Games continues to redefine what can be achieved in interactive entertainment," said Strauss Zelnick, Chairman and CEO of Take-Two. "We are incredibly proud of the extraordinary critical and commercial response to Grand Theft Auto 5."
No doubt Conan's review of the game pushed it over the threshold.
