GTA 5 sells 10 million copies on PS4 and Xbox One

But what's the status of heists for GTA Online?

Take-Two Interactive has revealed during today's earnings report for the fiscal third quarter 2015 that Grand Theft Auto 5, Rockstar Games' open-world action-adventure, has sold-in more than 45 million units on consoles since its initial Xbox 360/PS3 release in September 2013.

Rockstar brought its critically acclaimed title to Xbox One and PS4 in November 2014, and it has since sold-in nearly 10 million copies. While the next-gen sales are strong, they pale in comparison to the 11.2 million copies sold on Xbox 360 and PS3 in just the first 24 hours of release. GTA 5's sales topped $800 million in its first day, and the game later went on to set a new record as the fastest game to surpass $1 billion in sales.

Looking ahead, Rockstar still has plans to release Grand Theft Auto 5 for PC on March 24, 2015. It's hard to tell how much more this release will add to the sales, but the PC master race sure does seem excited to get their hands on it.

Arriving near the release of the PC version is the eagerly anticipated heists for GTA Online. Heists have been a long-requested feature for the Grand Theft Auto 5's online multiplayer mode since its arrival last year. These elaborate missions will require players to plan, prepare, and execute with perfect synergy, demanding tight communication and coordination. We didn't get a release date for heists today, but Rockstar has said in the past that they'll be ready in "early 2015."
