GTA Online to get new heists in a new location this year

Grand Theft Auto V turns seven years old in about two months and it’s still kicking. The open-world crime epic continues to sell a stupid amount of copies, so much that Rockstar is bringing it to PS5 and Xbox Series X. With that, of course, means new content for GTA Online.

While the next-gen version of GTA V won’t hit until sometime in 2021, Rockstar is going to treat GTA Online fans very nicely this year. After a drought with no new content on Red Dead Online or GTA Online, fans began to openly criticize Rockstar for their lack of communication. This has seemingly prompted the company to respond with a general outline of what’s to come for both games.

GTA Online will be getting some new content this summer, the likes of which remains unclear. But the really exciting news is that new heists are coming and they’re seemingly moving away from the sun-soaked streets of Los Santos.

Rockstar noted in their press release that this update will be the biggest update GTA Online has ever gotten. It’ll also feature the “latest take on Heists in an entirely new location.” Some have hoped for a map expansion for a while, seems that we’re getting that. Whether it’s Liberty City, Vice City, North Yankton, or even Los Venturas remains to be seen. Whatever the case may be, this will likely lay the foundation for a wealth of new content on next-gen.

Rockstar noted previously that GTA V on next-gen will feature new content exclusive to the platforms, so this could be a way to usher that in. For you Red Dead fans, Red Dead Online is getting a new update soon as well!

“For Red Dead Online, players can expect a massive new update to arrive Tuesday, July 28th featuring a new Frontier Pursuit that will introduce players to the secrets of naturalism as part of an all-new Role, plus a new Outlaw Pass, tons of community-requested features and fixes, and much more to play and discover in the months to come.”

We’ll be sure to keep you posted as we learn more about updates in both games.
