GTA remasters will only happen if they are “going to delight customers”

The parent company of Rockstar, Take Two Initiative, gave some answers regarding GTA remasters, and while it's not something the rule out it's also not something they are planning on.

It was during Take Two's earnings call yesterday, where they answered some questions about whether or not they were planning on making remaster of old GTA games such as Vice City and GTA III, and the answer was 'no ,but maybe'.

The CEO of Take Two Initiative, Strauss Zelnick, gave a long (but informative) explanation on their stance on remastering old GTA titles, he confirmed that it is something "something [Rockstar Games] will decide in due course," but also that they "wouldn't do anything that's not going to look great creatively." Basically, if fans want it, if they will be happy with it, if it reflects good on the company, then we might see a GTA remaster. You can read Zelenick's full statement bellow.

"The starting point is, 'Is this going to delight customers, is this going to look good?'. "You know that we're a company that is not driven first and foremost by 'Can we create revenue this way?' We would start by saying, 'Will this be exciting to consumers, will they be happy with it, will it reflect well on our brand, will it reflect well on our company?' And if the answer is yes, then it may well be a compelling opportunity. But if the answer is indifferent or no then even if we have an opportunity to make a few bucks we probably would decline. I think that's the lens through which we look, the actual decisions are made by the labels [Rockstar and 2K]."

In the same earnings call it was revealed that Rockstar would be coming out with information on a new game "soon" and that Grand Theft Auto V had sold more than 65 million copies in its lifetime. Some new GTA Online content will also be arriving this summer. There is a lot of Rockstar related things to look forward to.
