GTA: San Andreas pulls a drive-by on PSN tomorrow

It's been confirmed that Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas will be available on the PlayStation Network beginning tomorrow, December 11. The game will be available to download on the PlayStation 3 as a PS2 Classic, so don't expect any snazzy HD visuals — just expect some of the best gang-themed gameplay in the series, which isn't shabby in any capacity.

The San Andreas name has been hovering around a bit as of late. The game was recently rated by the ESRB for release on Sony's current home platform. Then PlayStation Hong Kong pretty much revealed that the game was being re-released on current hardware. Now it's been confirmed for North America by the PlayStation Blog.

Grand Theft Auto 3 is currently available as a PS2 Classic, as well, though Vice City has only been officially confirmed for iOS and Android devices thus far. That will likely change, but admittedly, it's a bit strange that San Andreas is being released on the PlayStation Network before its '80s-influenced predecessor.

In any case, it's San Andreas, easily one of the best games in the series to date, if not the absolute best. Time to gather up the homies and bust a cap on some foo's. I'm sorry — I promise I'll never do that again.
