GTA V mod developer says Rockstar’s statement is “wrong and they know it”

Earlier this week, the main modding tool for Grand Theft Auto V, OpenIV, was shut down following a Cease and Desist letter from Rockstar Games' parent company, Take-Two Interactive. The lead developer for OpenIV argued that they were complying with Rockstar's rules by making the mods exclusively for single-player and not interfering with the game's online component.

Rockstar Games fired back and defended Take-Two's actions by saying that OpenIV was being used to interfere with the experience of players playing GTA: Online. Now, the lead developer of OpenIV has responded to Rockstar's statement saying that's not possible.

"Here is my comment on this Rockstar's statement:
OpenIV, Liberty City in GTA V and all other mods/projects from my team and me are only specific for Single player. Rockstar must be well aware about the fact that you cannot access GTA Online while you have installed any OpenIV mod:

The statement "Unfortunately OpenIV enables recent malicious mods that allow harassment of players and interfere with the GTA Online experience for everybody", is just wrong and they know it. OpenIV does not allows or supports any kind of GTA Online mods. We always supported Rockstar in their right to protect GTA Online from hacks and cheats. But, Take-Two's C&D was specific for out Singleplayer mods and have no mentions about GTA Online."

So… that's interesting. Sounds like someone may potentially be lying. Take-Two has supposedly denied to comment on the subject so maybe we'll hear something from Rockstar Games soon.
