Guacamelee dons its mask and enters the brawl in April

Developer DrinkBox Studios has announced that its upcoming 2D action-platformer Guacamelee will be available on April 9. The game is coming to the PlayStation Network, where it'll be available for $14.99.

Guacamelee features Metroidvania gameplay, focusing equally on platforming and brawling and encouraging players to do a little exploration if they're so inclined. The game is also a riot, with plenty of comical moments and a lighthearted take on Mexican culture.

The upcoming title will be a cross-buy and cross-play offering, so you can play it on your TV and then take it with you on the go. I had the chance to play Guacamelee on the PlayStation 3 and Vita, and it was a lot of fun on both platforms.

If you're thinking of downloading the game, arm yourself with some tacos, enchiladas, or a burrito. I predict it'll go nicely with some delicious Mexican food. Wrestling mask is optional.
