Guardians of the Galaxy sequel gets an official title

What will the second volume bring?

Earlier this month the writer and director James Gunn revealed that after 48 days of writing, he had completed the first draft of the Guardians of the Galaxy sequel. His Twitter reveal came alongside hashtags that read "#NoSpoilers" and "NotEventheTitle."

We have the title now, Gunn! Marvel Studios President, Kevin Feige, revealed the title of the film a bit in advance, only to have Gunn take to Twitter (yet again) to confirm the Feige's slip was indeed the title.

The sequel's title is… Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2.

The title is likely a throwback to Star-Lord's mixtape, Awesome Mix Vol. 1. The mixtape is pretty important to both the comic book character and the film adaptation's character, so you could say the movie title is fitting. Filming for Volume 2 will begin sometime around February or March of 2016!

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters on May 5, 2017.
