Guitar Hero Live adds head to head Rivals mode

One on One mode will be randomly triggered

After much request, Activision has announced that Guitar Hero Live now has added its Rival mode, a new one on one mode where players will battle against other players in one song head to head.

According to a post on the Guitar Hero forums, Creative Director Jamie Jackson stated that

We've received lots of feedback in the forums about what you want to see next," Jackson wrote. "Something that came up quite frequently was head-to-head multiplayer. Another was showing off your playercards and note highways to others. And we heard you. Starting today, when you pop into the GHTV channels, you'll experience what we are calling Rival Challenges. As you play through the channels, you will periodically be matched up against a similar-skilled opponent to square off, 1-on-1 style, in a song battle to test your skills. Rival Challenges will occur twice in every half-hour show. The song choices will be picked by us, so you'll always need to be ready!"

Although not exactly how people figured it would be implemented, the new Rivals challenges is set to keep you on your toes with the random triggering. Activating twice every half hour show, there is no telling when it will be activated and won't even be the song that you are currently playing when the mode activates. Since Activision picks the songs, you'll have to continue to practice as each win will net you 100 XP. The mode is available now on all platforms.
