Sony Online Entertainment president John Smedley has revealed plans to announce the early access date for upcoming post-apocalyptic zombie-survival mmo H1Z1. Taking to Twitter, Smedley wrote, "H1Z1 Early Access date is going to be announced Monday [December 8th]," while noting the company was still finalizing details.
"Glad we took the time we did," he added. "Really proud of what we're going to put in front of you all."
"We wanted to set a high bar quality wise for Early Access. Happy with where we ended even if it took longer," he continued. "So what."
When we last spoke to SOE, we were told H1Z1 could've entered early access a long time ago, but it wouldn't have been anywhere near where it needed to be.
“What we want is a game that people play after they play it day one,” game designer Adam Clegg said at the time. “We could've released early access a long time ago, but I think it would've been in a state where a lot of people play it, they play it once and they're like 'okay, it's not there yet, I'll play it later,' and that never happens. They just never come back to it."
Meanwhile, many SOE fans are still awaiting the company to announce the PS4 beta date for PlanetSide 2. Unfortunately, it doesn't sound like an announcement is coming this weekend.
