H1Z1 will support PvP and PvE in Early Access

SOE to offer between 150 and 200 Early Access servers

When H1Z1 Early Access launches this week, it will boast around 150 to 200 servers. The news comes by way of Sony Online Entertainment president John Smedley who has been quite active on Twitter in preparation of the game's eagerly awaited launch.

Smedley assured the day-one servers will be a mix of PvP and "disgusting" PvE servers for you carebears out there. "I'm not happy about that but people tell me I need to get over it," he joked.

Just to hammer home his point, Smedley added that SOE has gone "out of our way" to ensure that PvE players will be happy. "Not everyone enjoys [Kill On Sight]," he acknowledged.

Both PvP and PvE servers will support traditional vanilla gameplay as well as hardcore rules that will require things like headshots-only, first-person (for PvE), or losing recipes when you die (PvP).

H1Z1 Early Access is slated to launch for PC (via Steam) on January 15, 2015. Although the game will be free-to-play when officially released, you'll actually have to pay for Early Access. For more Early Access details, check out our '6 important things you need to know about H1Z1' post.
