After Half-Life's release in 1998 we only had to wait six years until we saw Half-Life 2 and we have been waiting 11 years to see Half-Life 3, but wait is over. The time is now for Half-life 3.
Swedish retail site, Webhallen, has listed Half-Life 3 for release in 2015 and is taking pre-orders for the unannounced, that will likely never see the light of day…but hey 449 Sek ($55.97 for those curious) will reserve you a copy of a game that doesn't exist.
There are three options as to what exactly Webhallen is doing with a Half-Life 3 listing:
- They know something we don't know (like the games release and existence).
- They are making a fast grab for money.
- They are attempting to take a wound that could have been closing, rip it open and pour gobs and gobs of salt into it.
I am partial to option 3, as it seems the most likely. The product listing has no image, it's not in inventory, but it does say the game is developed by Valve. At least they did their research. While they reserve the right to perhaps be telling the truth about the Half-Life 3's existence, be wary.
Check out the listing here and let me know what you think.
