Half-Life mod Cry of Fear is now a free standalone game on Steam

What began as a Half-Life 1 mod is now a free standalone game on Steam.

Team Psykskallar has released an updated version of its single-player and co-op survival-horror game Cry of Fear on PC, according to an update on Steam Greenlight. Players control a man exploring a Scandinavian city at night and trace his descent into madness.

The game lasts eight hours, includes unlockable post-single-player content and a full co-op campaign for up to four players, and features "strong modding support with 12 custom campaigns and examples included, with requests from modding community listened to and implemented."

The development team has listed other changes and improvements on its website.

And best of all, you don't need the first Half-Life to play it.
