Last year, Rockstar Games celebrated Halloween with a special weekend event in Grand Theft Auto 5's multiplayer mode, GTA Online, that included special crates filled with treats and discounts on Halloween-themed items like freaky masks and accessories. Though the developer has yet to announce any sort of festivities this year, newly discovered files found in GTA Online's "Lowriders" update suggest tricks and treats are on the way this year.
According to GTA modder Yan2295, GTA Online: Lowriders update files have already hit the servers and contain clues about all sorts of Halloween-themed items. Uncovered in the update were files for 12 new masks, two new vehicles (“btype2″ and “lurcher”), a new weapon (flashlight), and something called "ped overlays" which susggests NPC's will also partake in dressing up this year.
Though nothing has been formally announced, the files clearly suggest more is on the way this month. Last year, the announcement was actually made on Halloween which fell on a Friday. Seeing as how Halloween is on a Saturday this year, expect Rockstar to reveal the special festivities on Friday, October 30th.
In the meantime, check out the leaked files below, courtesy of Yan2295 and taltigolt (via VG247). As a reminder, the GTA Online: Lowriders update will arrive tomorrow on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
