Today marks the 10 year anniversary of Halo 3's release and with it, 343 Industries (the current Halo developers) have a celebration announcement. Last week, Microsoft officially made Halo 3, along with Halo 3: ODST Campaign Edition, Halo 4, and Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, backward compatible for the Xbox One.
Today, 343 Industries announced that they have been secretly at work on something Halo 3 related, but aren't yet ready to reveal what it is yet. In the meanwhile, they have a Halo 3-inspired announcement for Halo 5.
"In honor of Halo 3's 10th birthday, we've been working closely with them on some additional awesome things for Halo 3. We can't spill the beans just yet, but stay tuned for more info soon."
While we wait for what new content 343 Industries will be adding to the classic game from Bungie, Halo 5 has been reworked to spotlight Halo 3's anniversary. Halo 5 will now feature a Halo 3 Classic Throwback playlist that equips players with a Halo 5 Battle Rifle with Classic Scope as the primary weapon and an Assault Rifle in the secondary slot. In addition to that, Halo 3 maps have been remade in Forge with tweaks to make the gameplay feel more like classic Halo! You can grab the map remakes here.
