When it comes to the Halo franchise, the Warthog is probably the most iconic vehicle there is. With us since the very first Halo game, it's been the staple for transportation. Sure, over the year's we've gotten the Ghost, the Chopper, and Mongoose, but it is the Warthog that we always end up going back to.
Just a standard army jeep with a LAAG turret mounted on the back, I believe it's the Warthog's simplicity that makes it such a popular vehicle. Capable of covering a large amount of ground quickly, while the turret gunner disposes of enemies, it's the ultimate vehicle for teamwork. Not to mention, I think we all love it so much because it's probably the one Halo vehicle we can get close to creating in real life.
Aside from why we actually enjoy the Warthog, the new Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn vignette pays tribute to this fan favorite vehicle. Titled "Joyride", the video explores the recruits at the Corbulo Academy of Military Science, where they train with all of the UNSC equipment and tactical gear, including the vehicles. One recruit gets a little too excited about the specially modified Warthog and decides to take it for a little spin. Find out what happens in the new video.
As for the series itself, Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn explores the beginning of the Human/Covenant war, when Master Chief inspired a young cadet who would eventually become a leader aboard the UNSC Infinity in Halo 4. The live-action series will debut on October 5th as a five episode series airing every Friday up until the release of Halo 4.
