Halo 5 Guardians beta resolution and frame rate revealed

Thirteen years after Halo officially launched, we got a glimpse at the next game in the franchise. Over a million people tuned in to watch the live stream of Halo 5: Guardians during Halofest, while thousands lined up to grab the Halo: Master Chief Collection.

Around the same time as the Halo 5 multiplayer was shown off, the head of 343 Industries sat down with Eurogamer to talk about the resolution and frame rate.

It looks like when the Halo 5 beta comes out, we won't be playing it in 1080p or 60fps:

"For the beta, at this point we're totally focused on gameplay," he said.

"We're midway through development. We're balancing and tuning the gameplay systems…So, for the beta, we're going to be coming out at 720p and 60fps. That's not the final resolution for the game."

Brief recap: The beta will run at 720p and 60fps, but the final game will not release at that resolution and frame rate.

The beta will be open to those that purchase Halo: The Master Chief Collection, it will begin on December 29th, 2014 and run for three weeks. It will solely cover multiplayer — there will be seven maps and three game modes chosen by the Halo community. A Spartan Rank system will be available to track your progress and unlock customizable armor sets.
