Halo 5: Guardians free to play this weekend with Xbox Live Gold

Beginning today, Xbox Live Gold members will be able to play Halo 5: Guardians for free. The game, developed by 343 Industries, will be available to play for free throughout the weekend, ending on Sunday, January 14 at 10:59 p.m. PST.

Xbox owners will be able to play in the game’s campaign or in multiplayer modes, including Warzone. In addition to the free weekend, Halo 5 Guardians will be on sale for 20% off throughout the weekend. Any progress made in the game during free play will be transferred to the purchased game.

In Halo 5, players play as both Master Chief and Locke and lead their teams through the game’s story. The campaign received mixed reviews from critics, while the multiplayer has been hailed as some of the best Halo multiplayer to have been released.

Halo 5: Guardians first released in October 2015 and was met with generally positive reviews.
