As most Xbox fans are probably aware by now, today marks the beginning of the Halo 5: Guardians multiplayer beta.
From now through January 18, 2015, Xbox One owners are able to get their first taste of the next evolution of Halo combat. While Xbox One preview members were able to get a brief sneak peek last weekend (you can read our preview here), the beta is open today for those who have purchased Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
The beta is focused on 4v4 Arena multiplayer and represents "only a small portion" of the "epic plans" 343 Industries has planned for multiplayer in Halo 5: Guardians. As such, beta participants can expect to preview seven maps and three different game types.
The beta is expected to unlock at 9:00am PST (12:00pm EST). You can download the beta, which checks in around 10.26 GB, from the "Extras" -> "Halo 5 MP Beta" option in Halo: The Master Chief Collection's game menu. Currently, Halo 5: Guardians beta is only open to those who are Xbox One preview members (which is invite-only) or anyone who owns a copy of The Master Chief Collection.
Halo 5: Guardians is due out fall 2015 exclusively on Xbox One.
