Halo 5 pays tribute to player who lost two daughters in house fire

No one plays alone

You may not be aware that back on January 18th of this year, two sisters the age of 12 and 15 died in a Wisconsin house fire. What makes this different than your standard, horrific news story of a family in grief is that the father of these two sisters is a big time Halo player. When 343 Industries was made aware of the tragedy, their response was nothing short of amazing.

The girls' father, Adam Bartels, is a Halo player by the name of thecrzedspartan. 343 created the Spartans Never Walk Pack as tribute. Contained in the pack is the True Light Emblem, embued with stars in a night sky. It is an animated emblem which receives its name from the first letters of each of the girl's names, Trinity and Lena. Halo Chief Designer Josh Holmes elaborated on Halo Waypoint about the tragedy, including how the company wishes to pay eternal tribute to the Bartels family. In the new Arena map, every time you look up the names Trinity and Lena will grace the night sky. Forever. "As players look up and scan the stars above, the names Trinity and Lena will be visible in the night sky. These are but small gestures meant to honour Adam's daughters, ensuring that their memories are always close at hand within the universe he loves." said Holmes

This is the best story I've heard in a while. Good for you 343, well done. Our hearts go out to the Bartels family as well. If you'd like to support the family, a Gofundme page has been set up in the daughter's memory.
