Halo: Master Chief Collection coming to PC; Halo: Reach coming to MCC

Halo is Xbox’s money maker, it’s the reason most people buy an Xbox. It paved the way for a new era of gaming with the introduction of Xbox Live in Halo 2, innovative first-person game design, and much more. In 2014, Microsoft celebrated the series with the ill-fated Master Chief Collection on Xbox One.

The collection was supposed to be the ultimate way to experience the beloved sci-fi series and while it was really solid, a number of issues with the multiplayer made it almost impossible to play. With Microsoft now looking to expand the brand of Xbox to PC, we’re seeing every Xbox game come to PC. For a while, the only exception was The Master Chief Collection but that will soon change!

Today after much teasing, Microsoft announced every mainline Halo game (with the exception of 5) will make its way to PC via the Master Chief Collection. That means for the first time, PC players will be able to experience Halo 3, ODST, Reach, and 4. There’s a catch, though.

Microsoft will be rolling them out to PC one game at a time starting with Reach and then going in chronological order from there. This will ensure that players can start playing Halo on PC sooner. The PC versions of Microsoft’s shooter will have 4K/60FPS capabilities and have no release date as of right now.

Halo: Reach’s multiplayer mode will be added to the Xbox One version of Master Chief Collection for free but the campaign and co-op Firefight mode will be added at a premium cost. No release date was given for Reach either.

The last Halo game that was ever released on PC was 2 in 2007 but since then, Microsoft has largely stayed away from bringing the series to the platform much to the disappointment of fans. There’s no word on if Microsoft has any plans to bring 5 to PC but the next entry in the series, Halo Infinite, has already been confirmed for the platform.
