Halo’s ‘Blood Gulch’ map was recreated in Counter-Strike and it’s perfect

In 2001 the first-person shooter gaming world was met with the birth of the Halo series. The game did quite a bit for the genre, including bringing one of the most beloved maps to life – Blood Gulch. This map was so beloved by the Halo community, it even became the location where plenty of Rooster Teeth's Red vs Blue were recorded.

Counter-Strike player Itszu has done there best bringing the map back into the spotlight by recreating the map (via Kotaku) in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Itszu's slavery to detail is so noticeable that we had to know how they did it – luckily Itszu is more than willing to share how it was done.

“All level geometry is hand-done, including brushwork and displacements. Textures have been modified as needed to support Source’s unique texture parameters. All scenery (rocks, trees) ported with Wall Worm Model Tools from Gearbox’s level assets for Halo: Custom Edition, with hand-done custom collisions to conform to Source’s convex requirements. Some textures are heavily modified from the original, and others are entirely new due to differences in texture tech between halo’s Blam engine and Source 2013.”

If you want the map, you can download it on CSGO’s Steam Workshop.
