Halo: The Master Chief Collection suffering from matchmaking issues

The excitement of Halo: The Master Chief Collection's release today has quickly turned to frustration as numerous Xbox One owners are reporting problems with the game's online multiplayer matchmaking.

Numerous players have complained about the issue on the Halo forums, and there are similar reports of problems on Reddit as well. We've tested the matchmaking system on our system as well and have also encountered very long wait times searching for a multiplayer match.

Microsoft has acknowledged the problem, adding: "We're working with our external partner to correct this issue right away. We appreciate your patience in the meantime!"

Meanwhile, developer 343 Industries has suggested that if you are unable to find a match after a few minutes of searching, to exit Matchmaking and begin searching again.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection launched today for Xbox One, unlocking at 12:01am ET. Let me ask you this though, what good is a midnight launch if the game doesn't actually work right away? Ah, the life of next-gen gaming.
