Hardspace: Shipbreaker wants to fulfill your space salvaging fantasies

Focus Home Interactive has shared new behind the scenes video about their upcoming space-sim Hardspace: Shipbreaker. Unlike action-oriented games, Shipbreaker is all about the serene and seemingly mundane tasks that come with life in space. In particular, the salvage of destroyed ships and economical aspect. Check out the new video here!

The simulation genre is a fascinating one. Whether it’s the daunting task of running a farm or transporting goods across the highways of the world. There’s an indescribable allure for the mundane everyday tasks many would not really associate with gaming. But the truth is, the numbers don’t lie. A significant portion of gamers loves simulators.

Hardspace: Shipbreaker looks poised to gap the bridge between boring reality and serene simulation with its mix of sci-fi space setting and running a salvaging business. Developed by Blackbird Interactive, Shipbreaker marks a shift for the developer who is most famously known for their genre-defining space RTS Homeworld franchise. So, at least the general setting is still the same.

Across your career, you’ll have the privilege of paying your debt to us by purchasing salvaging rights to increasingly large and valuable ships. Cut them open and extract as much value as possible!
You are equipped with the latest in LYNX tech. Carve entry points, salvage valuable materials and components with your cutting tool or slice scrap metal at any angle into a million pieces as you ponder a lonely existence… the possibilities are endless! Be cautious – dying is extremely unprofitable.
We strongly advise upgrading your tools, helmet and suit to take on more lucrative contracts – all you need to worry about is how you’ll pay for it!

But that’s where the similarities end, since players of Hardspace: Shipbreaker will be much less preoccupied with combat. It’s all about finding worthy salvageable shipwrecks, upgrading your work tools and find the best prices to sell your wares.

Hardspace: Shipbreaker will come out on Steam Early Access on June 16th.
