Hardware: Rivals, sequel to PS2 title, announced for PS4 13 years later

Sony has announced today that Hardware: Rivals, a followup to the original PS2 title Hardware: Online Arena, will be coming to the PS4 later this year.

The game features multiple different vehicles such as tanks, dune buggys etc all with their individual strengths and weaknesses. While the fast vehicles such as dune buggys can get in and out of cover much more quickly, they are weak in defense and vulnerable to the stronger attacks of vehicles like the tanks. Hardware: Rivals is an online, vehicle combat game similar to World of Tanks but one which allows you to use multiple different vehicles.

It is created by a new, internal Sony Studio called PlayStation Home Platform Group. The Producers, Dan Durnin, indicated that they wanted to take advantage of the PS4's power while maintaining the same identity and features of the original game. There is currently no information on a release date or pricing, but a beta is said to be coming soon. We'll keep you updated with more information as it comes.
