We've known that Ares would be the villain in the upcoming Wonder Woman film this Summer, but it hadn't been announced who would play the role. A new report today has broke the news as to who was cast, and it's a familiar face.
According to Batman-News, Harry Potter's Professor Remus Lupin actor David Thewlis will portray the villain Ares in Wonder Woman. The role will be a mix of CGI and practical effects, which is most likely why we haven't seen him in any trailers yet. The initial report of Ares' inclusion was reported by the French magazine Studio Ciné Live, which did a feature on the film earlier last month.
Warner Bros. has surprisingly been playing it coy when it comes to Wonder Woman footage, showing only two trailers with limited footage. There are still about four months left until it releases on June 2nd, so we'll most likely see him revealed or at least referenced in the next trailer. After all, DC has been known to reveal its villains in films early, i.e. Doomsday in Batman vs. Superman.
