Everything is better with Kinect, including Harry Potter. At least that's what Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment is hoping as they just announced Harry Potter for Kinect, a new video game exclusively for Xbox 360.
Harry Potter for Kinect will be based on all eight Harry Potter films, allowing players to join Harry, Ron, and Hermione "as they embark on an unforgettable journey through Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and beyond."
For the first time ever in a Harry Potter game, using Kinect's scanning technology, you will be able to scan their own face to create a witch or wizard to journey as. In addition, you will be able to cast spells using physical maneuvers and by calling out spell names. Now you can feel like you're in the heat of the battle yelling "Expelliarmus" from your living room!
"Harry Potter for Kinect will engage Harry Potter fans old and new by bringing them into the wizarding world as truly active participants," said Samantha Ryan, Senior Vice President of Production and Development at Warner Bros. Interactive. "Kids and parents will enjoy recreating their favorite Harry Potter adventures, from flying a broomstick in a Quidditch match, to battling pixies and dueling other wizards."
In the game you can experience some of the films' most memorable moments like visiting Ollivanders, choosing a house in Hogwarts, and even confronting He Who Must Not Be Name. Harry Potter for Kinect will include competitive mini-games along with co-op gameplay.
Expect the Harry Potter for Kinect to release this Fall, only on Xbox 360.
Is it too late for another Harry Potter game? I imagine there are still fans out there, but is the hype the same as when the films were still releasing? I just hope it comes with some sort of wand or else I'll just feel plain silly.
