Hate spiders? This real world PlayStation game may not be for you then

Your location, time of day and weather will impact the game

Tiger Style Games has announced Spider: Rite of the Shrouded Moon for PlayStation platforms. It will be a puzzle game released on Ios and Steam beginning August 6th with the PS4, Vita and Android platforms coming very soon. Shrouded Moon will use real world location, time of day and local weather and implement that into the game. As an example provided by the Creative Director Randy Smith, if you are playing on your Vita on the train on your way to work in the morning say around 830 am and it's sunny then it will be sunny in the game. If it's after dinner that night and you pop on your PS4 around 10pm with it dark and rainy outside then that will be reflected in game as well.

The main premise of the game is to hunt an old estate and trap bugs. After all, you're a spider. Utilizing your web to snag them just as a real spider does, it won't be as easy as it sounds. For example, if you are on the hunt for fireflies, playing the game during the daytime isn't going to cut it obviously. If it's raining outside and you need to climb up the spider's proverbial spout, you will have to wait till' the sun comes out. Smith also noted that if you are the impatient type, you can choose to use the in game weather device ti immediately change the time of day or local weather. The catch though is you can only use this feature once per moon phase or every 28 days as the game also tracks this data as well.

It's a fresh take on gaming with the implementation of real world data and we'll have to see exactly how much detail the game uses in this manner. We'll keep you updated on the game's progress.
