It looks like the pre-order availability of Destructive Creations' controversial shooter, Hatred, has been delayed. According to the game's FAQ, pre-orders for Hatred were supposed to be made available today via the game's website.
Last we heard from DC_Gaijin who posted on the Hatred forums earlier today, "We're still testing the shop, not really sure about this 6 o'clock."
DC_SatanicBlood added, "We just have to make sure this shop works perfectly to avoid any problems. It's not easy, cause it's made externally."
It's now 11:00pm CET, the developer's local time, and we've yet to hear anything more regarding its availability. Releasing alongside the pre-order availability was supposed to be a new trailer for the game which also looks to be delayed, even though it was technically ready-to-go since Friday.
We've reached out to Destructive Creations regarding Hatred's availability, but have yet to hear back. For now though, I'd plan on the digital store launching sometime tomorrow, or later this week at the latest. It's worth pointing out that pre-orders will only be available via the game's website; however, it will be the Steam version of the game.
Hatred recently received an Adults Only rating from the ESRB which Destructive Creations did question at first. According to the ESRB, "the context" of the game, which puts you in the shoes of a cold-blooded murderer on a mass killing spree for no apparent reason, was reason enough for the rating. The brutal nature of the game also caused a temporary snafu with Valve which removed Hatred from Steam Greenlight only to have company founder Gabe Newell step in and reinstate it. Suffice to say, the game has had its fair share of controversy and it's not even out yet.
So here we are now, having a somewhat better understanding of Hatred now that we've talked to the developer. I'm still not sold on the premise or idea of the game, but to each their own. We'll be sure to let you know when Hatred becomes available for pre-order.
