Legendary Game Development Studio, Double Fine, has officially released Headlander, their latest game in tandem with Cartoon Network's late night entertainment branch, Adult Swim. Headlander takes inspiration from classic Metroid mechanics and blends them with its own quirky (and hilarious) take on 70's Sci-Fi where you are the last flesh and blood human in the whole universe after humanity transferred their minds into robotic bodies.
Here's a description from the game's official launch press release:
"Set in a world inspired by 70s science fiction, Headlander puts you into the shoes… errr… disembodied head of the last known human in the universe. Seeking clues to your fractured past, you must travel through a hostile world of machines using a special helmet that allows you to dock into and take control of any robotic host body. As you launch from one body to the next, you'll start to discover that things are not quite what they appear to be, and the fate of humanity has yet to be decided."
The game also launches with its Official Soundtrack which was composed by David Gregory Earl who created it using tape and analog synthesizers. You can grab the soundtrack in a bundle exclusively on Steam for $24.99.
Headlander is currently available for PlayStation 4 and PC and retails for $19.99.
