Blizzard's cash cow that is Hearthstone is preparing to drop its next expansion upon worthy competitors next Thursday, August 10. The new expansion, Knights of the Frozen Throne – a variation on the Wraith of the Lich King expansion for World of Warcraft (WoW) – will give players 135 new cards to win, craft and play. Blizzard will introduce Legendary Hero cards that act in a similar fashion to the World of Warcraft expansion, which gave players the option to make a DeathKnight, expect in HearthStone when the card is played, it turns their normal hero, into a DeathKnight with new abilities.
Blizzard is also bringing back single-player content, like that found in previous expansions, with the exception being Journey to Un'Goro. The single player campaign will reward players who complete the prologue with a random legendary hero card and for those who complete the whole story, a free card pack will be rewarded. Like the Ice Crown Citadel raid in WoW, the expansions single player will be broken up into wings, each with three bosses and at the end, players will face off against Arthas, The Lich King.
Those who want to get in on the action early and save some money can pre-purchase 50 packs for $50, that's only a $1 a pack, a $2 per pack savings or $100 total. Keep in mind, however, that this offer is only valid one-time per player account.
