Ratchet & Clank isn't the only Sony franchise being made into a movie. Heavenly Sword, a PlayStation 3 exclusive, is also getting a film release, although it will be distributed direct-to-video.
Briefly mentioned in the footnote of Variety's article about the upcoming Ratchet movie, the publication reports that Blockade Entertainment is also producing a CG animated movie based on Ninja Theory's action game. Heavenly Sword is about a warrior, Nariko, who wields the magical "Heavenly Sword" — a god's blade of immense power that drains its wielder of their life force — long protected by her clan. Nariko embarks on a quest for vengeance against an invading King and his army.
The publication didn't mention a specific release for the Heavenly Sword movie, but Ratchet & Clank is expected to hit theaters in 2015.
