Quantic Dream has announced that the studio’s highly successful trio of prior PlayStation exclusive adventure games is going to become available on Steam on June 18th. Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, and Detroit: Become Human previously launched on PC exclusively on the Epic Games Store.
Almost one year to the day will have passed since Quantic Dream’s PlayStation 3 exclusives have landed on the PC via the Epic Games Store. A pretty typical timed exclusivity period for EGS titles but still weird to see on the PC platform which has traditionally managed to stay clear of “platform wars” and exclusivity deals. But these are strange times when Microsoft & Sony decide to port their first-party exclusives onto the PC. So, it’s only fair that the PC takes some of that console baggage as well.
Detroit: Become Human is the atypical bunch in the trilogy, as it launched last December on the Epic Games Store but will come out on Steam the same day as Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls. We’re not complaining, as it’s always good news when games get the chance to be experienced by more people. And we thoroughly enjoyed the first PC release of Detroit already which you can read in our review here.
David Cage’s writing has become a particular point of criticism in Quantic Dream’s games but that doesn’t mean these three ex-PlayStation exclusives aren’t worth your time. Quite the opposite really. There are simply not enough high-budget adventure games that swim against the stream and put characters, story and writing in the spotlight. The one or other quick-time event can lead to unintentional comedy but it’s a negligible trade-off for playing such unique games at all.
Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls and Detroit: Become Human will be available on Steam on June 18th. All three titles can already be played in their respective demos on Steam!
