Hellblade developer diary shows off beautiful new facial animation

Way back when after Hellblade was first introduced, we couldn't have imagined the changes that its main character Senua would be going through. With a new take on AAA game development, Ninja Theory has undertaken some new and creative ways in order to bring Hellblade to fruition without the detriment of big budget spending.

In the latest developers diary video released by the studio, Mr. Matthews indicates what went into the decision to move forward and revisit the manner in which they captured Senua's facial animations. Video editor Melina Juergens who is the model for Senua had to demonstrate over 100 separate facial animations which took over an entire day to fully model. Ninja Theory even took part in a super secret new facial scanner by company 3Lateral which they were asked not to film, but you can see it mentioned and described in the trailer below.

Hellblade depicts the story of Senua, a Celtic Warrior struggling with mental health after a great war and her journey on to overcome them. Hellblade is due out in 2016
