Talk about a Christmas bummer. Hello Games, the studio behind the extremely ambitious No Man's Sky suffered some big losses on Christmas Eve when their offices were flooded. As if that wasn't tragic enough, they apparently won't be covered by insurance, since their offices are in a flood zone.
This was tweeted by their official Twitter account:
BAD NEWS! Had a 'hilarious' call with insurer yesterday. Small print is if you are in a flood risk zone, you are not insured for flooding 🙁

What does this mean for the fate of No Man's Sky? I'd say it's probably not as severe. I refuse to believe that they didn't have any of the files backed up somewhere. It also looks like Hello Games has a rather positive outlook on the matter.
On a brighter note, no insurance means we can just wade in and start setting things straight! Hello Games assemble!
