Henry Cavill says Zack Snyder’s vision “hasn’t worked”

Now we don't want to rile anyone up but the DC film universe hasn't exactly resonated with the majority of people. It has a very vocal fanbase but the films have failed to make any substantial impact with critics aside from Wonder Woman.

Some believe the writing is just poor and sometimes doesn't come together in a satisfying way.Others believe the tone is too dark and it takes a character that's very hopeful like Superman and makes him depressing and dower.

Superman himself Henry Cavill believes that the reason the movies have suffered is because director Zack Snyder's vision hasn't exactly worked out properly. Even if Marvel didn't exist, he believes it isn't exactly what a major moviegoing audience is seeking in their summer blockbusters.

“Even if Marvel didn’t exist, we’d struggle,” Cavill admitted. “There was a style they were going for, an attempt to be different and look at things from a slightly different perspective, which hasn’t necessarily worked. Yes, it has made money but it has not been a critical success; it hasn’t given everyone that sensation which superheroes should give the viewer.”

“I think it is a wonderful time for the female hero,” Cavill said speaking of Wonder Woman. “It is the perfect setting in social politics right now, we need it, we want that perspective, and Wonder Woman has struck at the ideal time and has become a phenomenal success, which is fantastic. Any success within the superhero universe, especially within the DC Universe, is wonderful, because I want to keep telling the Superman story; selfishly, that works for me.”

Cavill also believes that they made the right mistakes and DC is working to correct them so they can create the right story and universe.

“I feel like now the right mistakes have been made and they haven’t been pandered [to], and we can start telling the stories in the way they need to be told,” Cavill added. “It is even better to come back from a mistake or stylistic error into the correct vein because it will make it seem that much stronger. Wonder Woman was the first step in the right direction.”

Justice League will have to prove if DC is capable of moving forward with this "lighter" tone while also telling a competent story. That film will drop on November 17th, 2017.
