Emotes exist in games as a form of expression when words simply won't do the job. Sometimes you just gotta dance. Or in Tom Clancy's The Division, do jumping jacks. This is just one of the ways you'll be able to express yourself in Ubisoft's upcoming online game without using your voice.
Tom Clancy's The Division features six different emotes (with more likely arriving as DLC). They are: surrender, salute, jumping jacks, help, applaud, and wave. It'll be up to the player base to determine exaclty what those mean in terms of gameplay, though Arrekz points out that, thus far, doing jumping jacks has become the universal code in the game for "I don't mean any trouble" or "I won't hurt you."
Of course, as The Division's community grows, I fully expect there will be a few a**holes in the Dark Zone who use this to their advantage in performing surprise attacks or betrayals. Cold-blooded.
