Here are the player rating changes in Madden 16’s week 1 roster update

EA Sports has released the second roster update for Madden NFL 16 — the first since the season kicked off last Sunday (last Friday's update was for the preseason finale). The changes to player ratings reflect the stats of week 1 in the NFL, and as always, EA will continue to update player ratings on a week-by-week basis. So what's changed after week one?

The headline, of course, are this year's two rookie quarterbacks — Marcus Mariota and Jameis Winston. Spoiler: one of them went down. I'm sure you can guess who based on the 42-14 victory the Titans had over the Buccaneers.

As a result of Mariota's record-setting day — becoming the first rookie to ever throw for four touchdowns in the first half of his NFL premiere — his overall  was bumped up two points to 80. His perfect passer rating of 158.3 and three touchdowns means +5 to Awareness (65 AWR), +1 to Throw Accuracy Short (88 TAS), and +4 to Play Action (64 PAC).

History, of course, says that one of these two quarterbacks will be a bust. After week one, it looks like Jameis; alhough, I admit one week is hardly a sample size, especially without wide receiver Mike Evans and working behind two rookie offensive linemen). But one week was enough to drop his overall two points to 79. With just 48.5% completion and a 64.0 rating, Jameis Winston will see the following changes: -3 Awareness (66), -1 Throw Accuracy Short and Mid (87 TAS and 74 TAM) with -1 on Throw on the Run (77 TOR).

While the Broncos played Thursday night, a change to Aqib Talib's rating only takes into account the week one matchup vs the Baltimore Ravens: +1 to OVR (91), +1 to PRC (88), Man Coverage (88), and Zone Coverage (91).
