The vote for your Madden NFL 25 cover is down to 16 athletes — both active players and retired legends. What once started as a pool of 64 players has been whittled down to just 16, thanks to your votes. Like the previous round, the Sweet Sixteen is divided into two brackets: New school players and Old school legends. Key matchups in both brackets include:
New School
- Colin Kapernick (San Francisco 49ers QB) vs. Arian Foster (Houston Texans RB)
- Russell Wilson (Seattle Seahawks QB) vs. Andrew Luck (Indianapolis Colts QB)
- Robert Griffin III (Washington Redskins QB) vs. Ray Rice (Baltimore Ravens RB)
- Rob Gronkowski (New England Patriots TE) vs. Adrian Peterson (Minnesota Vikings RB)
Old School
- Joe Montana (San Francisco 49ers QB) vs. Dan Marino (Miami Dolphins QB)
- Barry Sanders (Detroit Lions RB) vs. Ray Lewis (Baltimore Ravens LB)
- Jerry Rice (San Francisco 49ers WR) vs. Michael Strahan (New York Giants DE)
- Troy Aikman (Dallas Cowboys QB) vs. Deion Sanders (Atlanta Falcons/Dallas Cowboys CB)
A few notable details, as provided by EA: Barry Sanders, Jerry Rice and Adrian Peterson each carried over 90% of the fan vote in the last round. Over 7.8 million votes were cast in round two, and total votes for the campaign have no reached 29.1 million overall, almost ten million more than last year's total for the entire campaign.
Voting for round three is now open and will continue through Wednesday, April 3. You can cast your vote here. Below is a nice little infographic that provides a breakdown of the previous two rounds.
